Leduc Regional Housing Foundation (LRHF) announced today that Ms. Nancy M. Laing, the organization’s Executive Director, has decided to retire after 29 years of service effective October 1, 2020, and that Ms. Margot Hagarty will serve as Executive Director of LRHF upon Ms. Laing’s retirement.

Ms. Laing has served as the Executive Director of Leduc Regional Housing Foundation (LRHF) since September 1991, providing non-market housing in the Leduc Region for seniors, individuals and families of modest means – growing the organization from 4 buildings/179 units/2 programs to 22 buildings/800 units/9 programs today.  She supported the work of the previous Capital Region Board’s Housing Committee from 2008 - 2017, creating recognition of Housing Management Bodies as important partners for the effective planning and delivery of non-market housing within the Capital Region.

With a commitment to lifelong learning and industry development, Ms. Laing was a founding member of the Alberta Public Housing Administrators’ Association to promote education, information and networking.   Ms. Laing was a member of their executive for 18 years.

Ms. Laing was a member of the Board of Directors of the Leduc & District Victim Services Association for five years (2006-2011), finishing as Past President; and was on the Board of the Leduc-Nisku Economic Development Association for seven years (2012-2019), holding executive positions of Secretary-Treasurer and Vice-Chair.

“Nancy has contributed 29 years to Leduc Regional Housing Foundation and the Leduc Region.  Her commitment and achievements will not be forgotten.  Nancy’s devotion and community focus have been extremely beneficial for LRHF,” said Beaumont Councillor Kathy Barnhart, current LRHF Board Chair. “Nancy has been a mentor to many, and her influence has made an indelible impact on our organization and within the non-market housing industry. I want to thank Nancy for all she’s done for the development and progress of Leduc Regional Housing Foundation.”

“I look forward to working closely with our new Executive Director, Margot, to continue to expand LRHF’s leadership role in the development and ownership of affordable housing options for the low to moderate income seniors, individuals, and families within the Leduc Region.” said Ms. Barnhart.

Prior to being named Executive Director, Ms. Hagarty served in a variety of leadership roles within the non-marketing housing industry and long term care, through positions with the Greater Edmonton Foundation, Metropolitan Calgary Foundation (now called Silvera for Seniors) and most recently the Bethany Care Society in Calgary.
